WORSHIP AT FIRST CHURCH
We believe worship should be a time during which people experience the presence of God and express their love toward their Lord. All of our worship experiences are centered on Jesus Christ and feature both biblical preaching and excellent music. Worship experiences at First Church utilize a wide range of music, visuals, ancient rites and video segments so that worship is meaningful, memorable and culturally relevant.

8:00 & 9:30 Worship
These services are temporarily being held in Stryker Hall of the Life Center (601 Market St.) due to sanctuary renovations. Despite the change in setting, we continue to offer worship in a traditional tone. A wide variety of musical styles (gospel, classical, praise choruses, etc.) are offered and various choirs provide musical leadership. Multi-media is used to enhance the service. The 8:00 service may be slightly more traditional in tone than the 9:30 service.

10:45 Worship
This service offers worship in an informal tone. Both the sanctuary and the congregation convey a feeling of warmth and connection. The New Hope Sanctuary is located at 1157 Market Street, 5 blocks north of the First Church main campus.

11:00 Worship
The 11:00 service is distinct from other services in that it is held in a non-traditional setting (a large multi-purpose room) and musical leadership is provided by a live band. Although this service has its highest appeal among young adults, regular worshippers include people of all age groups. The atmosphere is casual and the music is the music of today. You might hear music from Hillsong, the Passion Movement, as well as modern takes on classic hymns and original praise songs.

Looking Ahead
Sept 7 Grand Re-Opening of the Sanctuary - 8:00, 9:30 & 11:00
The seats have been restored (and widened!). The organ has been reassembled. New carpet and flooring has been laid. The sound and video system has been upgraded. The walls and ceiling have been painted. The restrooms have undergone a major renovation. The nurseries have been completely redone. And a new hospitality center has been created. Join us for a truly joyous worship experience on Sept 7 when we give glory to God for all that He has done. Come early to enjoy the pre-service music.
Sanctuary Renovation 2008
During the first part of 2008, the sanctuary level of the Evangelical Center will be undergoing renovation. The renovation project will involve restoration of the pews in the sanctuary, reflooring and recarpeting, plaster work, painting, new restrooms, and new child-care rooms. It is estimated that the work will take 6-8 months. During this time, the sanctuary level of the building will be closed to the public. The 8:00 and 9:30 worship services will be held in Stryker Hall, Christian Life Center.
Communion
Communion is offered on the first Sunday of the month. At First Church, all who desire a relationship with God through Jesus Christ are welcome to receive communion, regardless of age or church affiliation. Grape juice is used in the service.
Worship Recordings
Worship CD’s are available for the 8:00 a.m. service held in the Evangelical Center Sanctuary. CD’s include the scripture, sermon and special music. There is a $2 charge per CD if it is picked up in the church office. CD’s are $3 if they are mailed. To request a CD, fill out envelope provided in the pew rack, insert money and place in offering plate. The office will call when the CD is ready.
